How gold is priced in Kuwait
Kuwaiti jewellers quote a daily price per gram in dinars, mostly for 18K–22K jewellery, and add a negotiable making fee. The figures here are international spot converted at today's USD/KWD rate.
Taxes
Kuwait has no VAT, and the 2026–2030 fiscal plan does not introduce one. Imported jewellery typically pays 5% customs duty.
No cash payments
Gold and jewellery can no longer be paid for in cash — use a card or bank transfer. The ban was introduced by Ministerial Resolution 182/2025 (reported in November 2025) and reinforced by decrees in September 2026, which also tightened identity checks on larger purchases.
Hallmarking
The Ministry of Commerce's Precious Metals Department inspects and stamps pieces, and every item must carry a label showing its karat, weight and making charge.
