International price in dinars. An estimate, not a quote: shops set their own rates and charges.

How the price is worked out

  1. Net gold weight = gross weight − stone weight.
  2. Gold value = net weight × the gold rate for the karat (24K = 100.0%, 22K = 91.6%, 21K = 87.5%, 18K = 75.0% of the 24K rate).
  3. Making charges as a percentage of the gold value, per gram, or a fixed amount.
  4. Stones are charged separately — never at the gold rate.
  5. VAT of 10% on the total.

When you sell jewellery back, shops pay for the gold content only — usually at a discount to the day's rate — so making charges and VAT are not recovered. Plain, high-karat pieces and bullion coins lose the least.

Gold Jewellery Price in Bahrain: FAQ

How is the price of gold jewellery calculated in Bahrain?

Price = (gold weight × gold rate for the karat) + making charges + stones, plus 10% VAT. Bahrain raised its VAT rate from 5% to 10% in 2022.

What is today's 21K gold rate in Bahrain?

About BHD 43.716 per gram for 21K and BHD 49.961 per gram for 24K, as of Oct 21, 2026, 20:31 UTC (international price in dinars). The calculator starts with these rates; replace them with your jeweller's rate if it differs.

Is VAT charged on making charges in Bahrain?

Yes. VAT of 10% is charged on the full price of the jewellery — the gold, the making charges and any stones. Investment gold (bars and coins of 99% purity or more) is treated differently: it is generally zero-rated, so ask for a VAT-free invoice when buying bullion.
