Buying gold in Bangalore (Bengaluru)
Bangalore (Bengaluru) jewellers quote 22K and 24K gold per gram and per 10 grams. Like the rest of South India, Karnataka buys mostly 22K jewellery, including traditional temple designs.
The prices on this page are India's spot-based rate in INR: there is no separate exchange price for Bangalore. Taxes and duties are explained on the gold price in India page.
Why Bangalore prices differ from spot
Every Indian city starts from the same international price, converted to rupees and raised by the same 15% import duty and 3% GST. City rates then differ by small amounts — usually less than ₹100 per gram — because of transport and insurance from the port of entry, local jewellers' association rates, how much stock dealers hold and how hard they compete. The biggest difference between two shops is the making charge, typically 5% to 25% of the gold value for 22K jewellery.
Gold reaches Bangalore mainly by air cargo, so the city's rate is normally close to Chennai's and Mumbai's.
When Bangalore buys gold
Ugadi (the Kannada new year), Varamahalakshmi, Akshaya Tritiya and Diwali are busy days for jewellers, as is the wedding season.
