How gold is priced in Singapore
Singapore jewellers price gold per gram, mainly in 916 (22K) and 999 (24K), often plus a workmanship charge; bullion is quoted per gram or per ounce. The prices here are spot gold converted at today's USD/SGD rate.
GST
Investment precious metals (IPM) have been GST-exempt since October 2012: gold of at least 99.5% purity in bar, ingot, wafer or coin form, plus prescribed coins such as the Maple Leaf, Panda, Singapore Lion and Philharmonic. Jewellery, proof and collector coins carry 9% GST.
Buying gold in Singapore
UOB publishes indicative buy and sell prices, but over-the-counter purchases now require a UOB account, and gold bought from March 2025 can only be sold back by account holders. Specialist dealers sell LBMA bars and IPM coins, and Singapore has become a major vaulting hub.
